Maddie's Weight Loss Journey - Week One

Image
Maddie has always been a curvy girl but as she gets older, the vet told us it is important for her to lose a few pounds to avoid health issues. Maddie is a Bombay, a breed that normally weights 8 to 15 pounds, and she is small for her species so her weight should be around 7-8 pounds. Starting this week, Maddie is going on a diet and exercise weight loss program! To keep track of everything, I thought it would be best to write down her measurements and progress which means you get to follow along. Over the next few weeks, we are planning to closely monitor her food supply and encourage her to exercise with interactive games and new toys. Week One We are starting Maddie's journey this week so here is a complete breakdown of her measurements: Height: 13 inches Length: 16 inches Weight: 9.7 pounds Belly Length: 7 inches This week we plan to introduce less food into Maddie's daily routine and play with her crinkle ball.  To see Maddie's

Maddie Turns 5

In our home, wet food is only given during special occasions like holidays and birthdays. So for Maddie's 5th birthday, we threw a milestone party with everyone's favorite "cake," wet food. Everyone received the same flavor and Maddie's "cake" was topped with a little pink candle. As soon as we placed Maddie on the party table, she dove right into her "cake." The smell immediately attracted Link and he was extremely curious. Not even his dislike of Maddie could keep him away from the wet food! Proceed to see several pictures of our cats eating... A little late to the party, Seven refused to join the birthday girl on the table. Instead, we allowed him to eat his food alone in his corner.  Seven's lack of presence did not stop Maddie. I don't think I have ever seen Link eat this fast or be this close to his sister. When Link finished his plate, he

Merry Christmas from Maddie!

In our home, Christmas is one of the best times of the year because we decorate the house and spending quality time as a family. The cats practically live under the Christmas tree and Maddie enjoys her bonding time with Link and Seven. This year I was lucky enough to catch all three cats sleeping together on our new tree skirt.  We hope you have an amazing holiday season!

Playtime with Maddie

As I have mentioned countless times, Maddie loves to play!  Every once in a while, I am lucky enough to capture one of her best moments on video, like the one below: Other times, we can barely hold our laughter while snapping pictures of her crazy ideas! As the fall season has progressed, several bugs and lizards have made their way inside our home and Maddie has enjoyed "playing" with each of them.  When the windows are open, she loves to sit with her brothers and listen to the birds and other animals on the other side of the screen.   Also, October is Black Cat Appreciation month to raise awareness and combat prejudice.  Please remember, there is nothing evil about black cats and Maddie will be the first to tell you!  Ps, how awesome are these black cat leggings from Lularoe?!  Until next time!

Why Special Needs Pets are the Best

At the beginning of last month our little princess turned four!  It is hard to believe that Maddie has been in our home for a little over two years.  As you may remember from previous posts, her adjustment to our home and her brothers only took a few hours.  Since then we have moved into a new home where Maddie has plenty of room to run and play.  She rules the house now. Link and Seven have accepted the fact that their sister is here to stay. Being born without eyes certain makes Maddie unique.  However, it is her love for life and the animals and humans around her that makes her special.  She is the first face you see when you walk through the door after work, she is never far away, and she is always willing to snuggle or play.  Maddie warms up quickly to strangers and enjoys being the center of attention at our parties. Maddie's blindness makes her acutely aware of her surroundings and she often hears bugs or noises before anyone else in the house.  Additionally, ph
